What is Cloncurry Motte? A large motte and bailey, a medieval church and graveyard, and a deserted medieval village situated on the border of County Meath and Kildare. Beetween Enfield and Kilcock.
It was constructed by the Anglo-Normans in the late 12th and early 13th century AD, most likely erected by Adam de Hereford, the first Norman lord of Oughterany Barony. (Late 12th century).
It is said the Ash that grew on Cloncurry Hill was planted in celebration of Wellington’s victory at Waterloo 200 years ago.
Unfortunatelly the tree died and fall. I was offered to use some of the wood and there you go, here's a shaving brush handle made out of it.
